Promoting Pupil Wellbeing: A DCSF Consultation. 19 September 2008

Forthcoming policy event on Promoting Pupil Wellbeing: A DCSF Consultation. At the launch last month of the consultation into the role of schools promoting the wellbeing of their pupils, Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families stated “The reforms I am announcing today are critical to implementing the Children’s Plan and delivering our vision of 21st Century schools.”

It has always been accepted that Schools have an important role to play in their pupils’ wellbeing and this consultation will offer guidance on this and partnership working with Local Authorities and other partners. The key issue will be how to identify and assess the contribution of schools to the wellbeing of pupils, through specific indicators and through surveys of parents and pupils. How will schools assess their own contribution to wellbeing and how will Ofsted make judgement about the school’s contribution?

Chris Waterman will be joining us to examine the consultation paper and look at these issues. As usual there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and discuss the key points. The event is priced at £99 plus VAT and will run from 11am - 1pm.
